special inspection

The Leffler Group has been performing special inspections successfully for the last 7 years. There are 3 reasons we are different than the other inspection agencies: training, experience, and cost.

Our inspectors have been trained as structural engineers and know the reasons behind the requirements in the documents and building code. After all, consulting structural engineering is what we do. Installations that meet the documents, but may not meet the design engineer’s intent are often discovered by our inspectors due to their knowledge and background. This provides an insight and understanding about the structural work being inspected that cannot be found in other inspection agencies, which is very beneficial to the project.

We also invoice for these services in a more economical and reasonable fashion than is typically found in the industry. Most testing agencies bill on an hourly basis for the inspector, their trip time, the clerical staff used to prepare the reports, the mileage incurred, and then mark up all expenses. This produces a large unknown quantity at the beginning of the project, when budgeting is most important. We have been involved in projects where the entire inspection budget is spent before the foundations were completed.

At The Leffler Group, our inspection services are charged at a flat rate for each visit. Mileage and expenses are included. Reports and distribution are included. No hidden clerical and miscellaneous charges. Whether the visit is 2 hours, or lasts an entire day - One flat rate. This makes budgeting easy, because the number of visits can be very closely approximated based on the construction schedule, at the beginning of the project when you most need it.
